Ever since Carrie Bradshaw wore that John Galliano for Dior newspaper print dress on Sex and the City, every girl I know (myself included) has wanted to emulate this look at some point. After much searching for this illusive print I finally came across this itsy-bitsy newspaper print dress online and had to have it. The perfect occasion to wear it soon arose and that was the celebration of receiving great end of year university results – and as my degree is in journalism, what an apt dress this would be for the occasion. The dress wasn’t without it’s problems though, it didn’t have much shape to it and even after being taken in down the sides it still made me look like I had no shape at all. To combat this I found a very simple Bardot belt to cinch me in at the waist and give me some curves without taking any attention away from the dress. A small coin was also added to a little pocket of lace dangling inside the cowl neckline just to keep it in place. Add my favourite, trusty black heels and clutch, some silver jewellery and bright nail polish to give the outfit a little colour and here you have my version of that iconic Ms Bradshaw look.
Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip have just released a new collaborative mixtape. It’s called The Abstract & the Dragon, and it features “Thank You”, their recently released single with Kanye West and Lil Wayne. It’s also got guest spots from A Tribe Called Quest, Raekwon, Missy Elliott, Talib Kweli, and others. Grab it here and listen below.
A Kanye West fan who just didn’t get her idol’s art was unceremoniously booted from a recent concert by Ye himself after asking him to take off his creepy-ass mask.
Kanye stopped Sunday’s San Antonio show so he could respond to the heckling woman in person.
“You can see my face on the Internet every motherfucking day,” Kanye retorted. “I came here, I open up a mountain…and you tryin’ to tell me how to give you my art.”
Though he didn’t compare himself to Nelson Mandela, Kanye did launch into a seemingly extemporaneous autotuned freestyle in which he “explained” the need for the mask before grouping himself with the likes of Miles Davis, the Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac, owing to the fact that all three, like him, are Gemini.
Yeezy then signaled to security to eject the undeserving philistine from his concert.
“Do I look like a motherfucking comedian?” the sad clown asked, most likely rhetorically. “Don’t fucking heckle me. I’m Kanye motherfucking West.”

Summer is officially here and we have only a mere four days until the airing of the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This is a time when bikini’s and short shorts reign supreme, abs are the ‘it’ accessory and the VS angels remind us of what body perfection really is. Therefore we all must be trying to fit in as many workouts as we possibly can, even if we only have a few minutes before work or going out. However, have you ever said to yourself: “I’d do a workout now if only it didn’t make my hair so sweaty”? I know I have. Once you take the time to work out you then have to find extra time to wash, blow dry and then style your hair and sometimes this is just time we don’t have thus resulting in us skipping the workout altogether. With summer this close though we can’t afford to be skipping these extra workouts so I have bought you a step by step guide that will take your hair from disgusting sweaty gym hair to effortless loose curls in under 10 minutes. Now you really have no excuse!
Tie your hair in a pony tail before you start to keep the majority of your hair sweat free during your workout. Your roots will get greasy but the rest of your hair should stay relatively clean.
My post workout yucky hair.
The first step is to coat your roots in dry shampoo. By far the best and only dry shampoo I would recommend isKlorane. I have tried many different brands of dry shampoos and this is by far the best.It has been recommended by countless hair stylists and beauty bloggers as it is one of the only ones that works just as well on dark hair as it does on light. This is because it doesn’t leave any residue or that white powdery look in your hair. It is also incredible for adding volume and lift to your hair in any situation. Klorane is available at most major supermarkets and pharmacy’s but is currently on sale at Priceline for $10.39.
Spray Klorane over all of your roots – front, side, back and underneath on the sides.
Pick up sections of your hair and spray it underneath. Make sure you get it on the roots at the nape of your neck and each section of hair around the sides. There is no need to spray it on the bulk of your hair, just at the roots.
Leave it sit in your hair for around a minute then run your fingers through it vigorously. Turn your head upside down and run your fingers through all of it to really disturb the powder. This is what is going to ensure it doesn’t sit on your scalp and make you look like you have terrible dandruff/greys. Then brush your hair to get rid of any left over residue.
Voilà! The Klorane will have eaten up all the sweat and will have given your hair some added volume.
But you might have some frizz. Aromas argon Moroccan oil is like a little piece of magic in a bottle. This amazing product nourishes your hair and instantly takes away frizz leaving it look silky smooth.
You only need to use the smallest amount of Moroccan oil. Squirt about a 5c piece size amount into your hands, rub it together and lightly dab it onto your hair avoiding your roots.
Now to style your hair. You don’t need to curl all of your hair as we are only after effortless loose curls today. Simply take a fair sized chuck of hair and wrap it around your curling iron from the very bottom and spread it around the wand so the entire tong is covered like I have done below. Always curl away from your face to open it up.
And there you have it – I did a 45min workout, sweated A LOT and was able to get my hair to look like this within 10 minutes! Quickly pin your hair up and put it in a shower cap while you take a shower as to not ruin your hair while getting ready for whatever it is you have to do for the rest of the day.
Sorry for the mass selfies but I hope they help illustrate that getting your hair sweaty is no excuse for skipping your morning workout because even if you only have a few extra minutes…
Back in 2009, Kanye West was the subject of the “Fishsticks” episode of “South Park”. They goofed hard on his humorless nature, and tonight, they’re doing it again. As Faderreports, Kanye will return from the sea to lecture the class about rumors spread about him (he’s not Aquaman) and Kim Kardashian (who is not a hobbit). Watch a clip below.
Following the “Fishsticks” episode, Kanye wrote a post on his website thanking “South Park” for the episode. In 2010, Matt Stone talked to Pitchfork about the episode, saying, “I mean we’re like, ‘Kanye, you are humorless. You do need to grow a sense of humor.’ Yeah, so that was not what we expected to have happen, to have him thank us. [laughs] I thought we were going to need a bodyguard, you know?”

Now that I am on uni holidays I have found no better way to spend my lazy days than by the water at South Bank with my friends. I have also found no better bikini than this LBB (little black bikini) from Billabong. Just as the LBD (little black dress) is a style staple and often regarded as the most flattering garment to wear, so too is the LBB. While it’s fun to wear brightly coloured bikini’s, there is a certain sophistication and confidence gained from a LBB that has no comparison.
