Major Tom’s Vintage Store
Major Tom’s Vintage is an online vintage and vintage inspired clothing boutique based in Melbourne, Australia. Priding themselves on a superior selection of vintage clothing, Major Tom’s style is predominantly 80s-90’s era men’s and women’s street style that is hand-picked and imported from LA, styled to suit current fashion trends.
Being an interior designer by trade and coming from a very strong design background, Major Tom's founder Kitty always dreamt of breaking into the fashion scene. "I have always wanted to own a clothing store, and fell in love with the vintage fashion in NYC and Los Angeles, so opening an online store here in Australia which offers this combination has been a dream come true" she said.
Kitty thinks that we have some fantastic fashion in Australia, but she is definitely more enthused with the fashion scene in Los Angeles and London as people aren’t afraid to take risks. This carefree attitude toward fashion is carried over into Major Tom's Vintage virtue of "Fashion is all about having fun, and knowing that you aren’t going to run into someone at the party wearing the same thing."
As well as getting to make a dream come true running the clothing store, Kitty loves how excited customers get over the stock and knowing that the pieces are going to new owners. "I also love that each piece has a history behind it, sometimes I can’t believe the stock is 20+ years old" she added.
In the months to come, Major Tom is going to hold select pop-up shops throughout Australia, a few parties and of course plenty more awesome vintage from the USA.
